Looking for the TAB for your favorite song? Most people have already found most of the good sites that have most TABS, but I will list a few of them for you here. First I would like to comment on TABS;

BEWARE that just because a TAB is on the Internet doesn't mean it is correct. It could be completely wrong or partially wrong. The best way to learn a song using a TAB is to also have the song ready to play on a CD player as you go through the TAB. Trust your ear. If it doesn't sound right then it probably isn't. Either that or your technique needs to be adjusted. You teacher should be able to help with that. The best way to find a TAB in my opinion is go to the Google search engine by typing www.google.com in your browser, or click on the Google image located in this article. Once you are in Google type in for example, green day tabs. This will pull up a list of sites that contain Green Day TABS. Or you can look for a specific song by typing, Bat Country tab. This will pull up sites that contain that song TAB.

If you are not satisfied with the TABS you have found there are a few other options to learning the song. You can buy a program called Guitar Pro. They just came out with version 5. The cool thing about this software is that you can play the song on your computer and the notes on the screen will highlight as it plays. You can also download lots of songs from a web site called MySongBook (This site is now out, try www.ultimate-guitar.com You must have the Guitar Pro software (About $60) to access guitar pro TABS, or try Power TABS which will require searching and downloading Power Tab Editor (FREE). It can also be hit and miss as anyone can upload there version of the song, but generally it is pretty good.

Another option is to buy the sheet music/TAB. You can go to Sheet Music Plus and for a couple bucks buy a song which is printable and will have both music notes and TAB.

As you grow as a musician it is a good idea to develop your own ear and try to learn songs that way. After all if you are the one that will be playing the song you will want to make sure it is right! A good teacher will help you develop YOUR ear as well as show you songs you want to learn. If not, give me a call and I WILL! 626-864-2065
