What does chords in the same key mean? It basically means that you can connect any of these chords and it will sound good. All of the notes that are in these chords are from the same scale of notes. Even if this doesn't completely make sense to you doesn't matter for now. What you should do is try connecting these chords in any order you like and listen to how they sound. Write down the changes you like. Some of the chords you may not know or be able to play at first because they are barre chords. That's ok. Just concentrate on the keys and chords that you can play for now.
Major Keys:
key of C major: C Dm Em F G Am Bdim
key of D major: D Em F#m G A Bm C#dim
key of E major: E F#m G#m A B C#M D#dim
key of F major: F Gm Am Bb C Dm Edim
key of G major: G Am Bm C D Em F#dim
key of A major: A Bm C#m D E F#m G#dim
key of B major: B C#m D#m E F# G#m A#dim
There are Minor keys as well. I want you to notice something about the minor keys, Am has the same chords as C major. That's because Am is the relative minor of C major. If you count to the 6th chord of each major key you will have the relative minor.
C major > A minor
D major > B minor
E major > C# minor
F major > D minor
G major > E minor
A major > F# minor
B major > G# minor
